Materials For Purchasing a Prepaid Plan

Set Up Recurring (Automatic Withdrawal or Payroll Deduction) Payments

You may use the Automatic (ACH) Withdrawal Form to have your payments automatically withdrawn from a financial institution account. You may use the Payroll Deduction Form to authorize automatic payroll deductions from a participating employer.

Any request to change the account owner, survivor, and/or beneficiary designated on the contract must be in writing, signed by the account owner and, for Florida Prepaid College Plans contracts purchased on or after February 1, 2009, the survivor, notarized, and received by the Board.

Use Florida Prepaid College Plan Benefits at a Private Florida or an Out-of-State University or College

The Prepaid Plan may be used at any eligible educational institution as defined in Section 529 of the Internal Revenue Code. You may use the Transfer Form to request using your Florida Prepaid College Plan at an out-of-state college or private college in Florida.

Request a Scholarship Refund for a Florida Prepaid College Plan

If the beneficiary(student) receives a scholarship, he or she can still use the Florida Prepaid College Plan and, in most cases, use the scholarship to cover other college expenses. It depends upon the type of the scholarship the student receives. The scholarship refund will be based on the value of the beneficiary’s prepaid plan. Scholarship refunds are paid by semester and must be requested, in writing, each semester.

Request an Unavailable Dormitory Refund from the Florida Prepaid College Plan

If the beneficiary (student) is unable to use the dormitory plan due to insufficient housing space, the account owner may provide proof from the university housing authority of dormitory unavailability on a semester by semester basis and receive a refund.
